Core Creative Education (CoRE), is a community interest company with a successful Outdoor Environmental Education Programme.  This began in 2010 and has developed by uniquely fusing the environment at Limemead Farm, with experiential craft based learning, ecotherapy and developmental movement and play into a bespoke therapeutic sanctuary for young people. CoRE is based in the South West of England on the borders of Somerset and Dorset.

In 2023-2024 Core Creative Educations programme currently supports 40 young people in the Alternative Provision, 16 young people on our outreach programme in schools through the Play Therapy service, 40 local families who access the Holiday Forest & Farm Club programme and employs 17 staff.

‘In ecotherapy we recognise that humans have access to the processes of renewal and resilience of the natural world…this connects us to our own storehouses of strength to navigate threat, stress and change’.  (Atkins and Snyder)

Our Mission

Our mission and philosophy at Core Creative Education, is to support young people to EXPLORE, CREATE, LEARN and GROW, focusing on developing the core, fundamental needs of a child.  As an Alternative Education Provision we work with young people, their families, schools and other professionals to promote inclusive, trust based, progressive practice, enabling young people to re-engage back into learning and life.

CoRE’s company ethos is a model of Progression, Reconnection, Reciprocity, and Sustainability.  These 4 themes weave throughout the whole Centre providing a nurturing, inclusive, progressive work place in which to nourish the young people referred.

We work therapeutically with children to develop their learning, communication, relationships and behaviours, enabling them and supporting the development of their relationships at home and in their communities significantly improving their confidence, self esteem and ability to engage in learning and life.

Please see Mentoring Programme for further information.

“We believe in listening to our students and helping them to develop what is the right path for them. As experienced educators in the fields of engagement, outdoor education and the arts, we have a firm belief  that  children and young people should have every opportunity to learn in a practical, hands on environment. At Limemead Farm, we have developed Core Creative Education as the cornerstone of our philosophy for engaging young people. With a wide range of ecosystems, animals, plants, crops and craft activities, we are able to give young people the chance to reconnect with the natural world around them and to find out more about themselves and what makes their heart sing”.
